EAR702 Byzantine Architecture
Professor:
The course analyses the architectural heritage of the Roman empire to Byzantium, the main stages of the development of Byzantine architecture, the materials of structure and the techniques of construction, the use of the written sources in the architectural production, the variations of the monuments at the base of the two artistic Schools (School of Constantinople and Hellenic School).
At the end of the course the students will be able to follow the basic stages of the evolution of Byzantine architecture, both secular and religious.
